Xmas during OMICRON threat!

Friends, I am sure you have missed my blogs, I didn’t post anything for a long long time. My sons are here from the USA; though our elder son came to help us out when me and my husband were critically ill with Covid-19 in April-May, it was an extremely stressful visit as we could only see him across the gate with our masks on, there was no other interaction at all; and we were so worried about his safety.

Now, we are all together in real sense after two long years.  Again the OMICRON threat is looming large, but we are thankful to be alive n kicking, lucky to be hale n hearty.

Xmas is the time for family bonding, home decorations, organizing gifts for the family and friends, making goody bags to give away, watching a movie together, baking a nice cake, coating strawberries/ nuts/ apple wedges with chocolate; all these activities foster closeness, create harmony and strengthen family ties.

*We are all set to place our four-year-old, almost six feet tall Araucaria tree in the corner of our living room, from where we can see it from all sides. Gifts are the fun part. Dearies, everyone loves presents, and a surprise is certainly so much more fun, we have gift wrapped our presents, will place them under the Xmas tree on 24th night. The anticipation and the thrill of opening a gift is worth all the extra effort that we are putting in now.

*Today only we bought 8 poinsettia plants from the nursery. A small cluster of fresh Poinsettias at the entrance with LED lights flickering amongst them, look so welcoming. I might place a few spider lily or Jade plants in between; the whole arrangement is very easy to put together and looks awesome. Certainly sets the tone.

*On the dining table I am planning to create an imaginative center piece. I have a big, oval serving tray, I am going to decorate it with RED soy wax candles, poinsettias and some white lilies; I might add some greens and a few smooth stones or pine cones to give the arrangement a nice flip, just letting lose my imagination.

*We have selected some lively Christmassy music, Xmas carols and peppy music to create festive atmosphere and cheerful mood.

We plan to cuddle up in a cozy razai, in our comfy pajamas, munch popcorn and watch a movie with the family, what fun! I have shortlisted a few movies… A Christmas story, Elf, It’s a wonderful life, Christmas with the Kranks, A Christmas Prince and The Grinch, let’s see which one we all decide on?  A nice movie with the family, warm welcoming home and gifts, what more can one ask for?

*We might go for a car ride with the family, enjoy the Xmas decorations/ lights put up in the public places, in our neighborhood, on the Government buildings and churches.

We have packed about twenty Goody bags for the poor and needy, we plan to distribute these to the kids we might find on red-light crossings.

Putting a smile on someone’s face is the best way to celebrate, don’t you think so?

Let’s enjoy a safe Xmas,

Try to spread some cheer,

Be generous, after all it’s CHRISTMAS time!
